In 2013, Jasper completed his machine learning PhD at the University of Toronto. He then held postdoctoral positions at the Harvard Center for Research on Computation and Society under Ryan Adams and the University of Toronto under Geoffrey Hinton and Ruslan Salakhutdinov. Snoek co-founded Whetlab, a machine learning firm, while he was a student at Harvard. Twitter bought Whetlab in 2015.
